Gp Capt H. N. Mansukhani was the youngest officer of the IAF’s pioneering 1st Pilot Course. His age, unusual branch changes, rare return after release and eventual promotion meant that he remained in service six months after his coursemate, Air Chief Marshal P. C. Lal.
